“O vindeiro 5 de xunio terá lugar na Biblioteca Pública de A Coruña un obradoiro titulado “Un día con Leonardo da Vinci” para nenos de maís de 7 anos. Trátase dunha viaxe ao Renacemento na que descubriremos o útiles que son as matemáticas para facer arte. Afondaremos nas facetas de inventor, científico e artista de Leonardo para rematar descubrindo o misterio do retrato máis famoso do mundo, o da Mona Lisa. Unha divertida e participativa actividade na que os rapaces interpretan as imaxes artísticas, estimulan a creatividade, e establecen conexións entre as artes visuais, as matemáticas, a lingua e a historia.”

Today is the anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso.

He was born in Malaga, Spain and he died on the 8th April, 1973. Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous Spaniards in the world. He revolutionized painting and sculpture and many of his works of art are instantly recognizable because of his original style.

When he was 10 years old Picasso came to A Coruña with his family and he lived here for five years. He went to the School of Art in A Coruña and he lived in a house in Payo Gómez Street, near the Plaza Pontevedra. This house has been restored and is now a museum that can be visited.

Need a Snow Day?It has been very cold and most of Galicia had snow last week. Snow is fascinating. Did you know that there are about 35 different types of snowflakes?

Making snowflakes out of paper is very easy and they look beautiful.

Here is a great website  where you can design and print your own snowflake.

wordleWordle is a great application that lets you create art from words. You write words or copy and paste text, a poem, song lyrics, etc. Then press GO and Wordle will create an interesting picture which you can modify by changing the colours, fonts or direction of the text. It’s great fun!
